‘I Lost My Child While Serving God’ – The Winlos’ Anwuli Ajikere Shares Powerful Message on Faith Through Pain
By MandateNews Reporter
In a deeply moving and personal testimony, Anwuli Ajikere, co-founder of the popular Christian drama ministry *The Winlos*, has opened up about the heartbreaking loss of her child. Speaking on enduring seasons of deep pain, she encouraged believers to remain anchored in their devotion, emphasizing that painful experiences should never pull a Christian away from God.
Reflecting on that incredibly difficult trial, Anwuli revealed that the tragedy occurred while she was actively engaged in ministry.
> *”I lost my child two years ago. I was doing the Lord’s work, traveling already, when I lost that child. So it wasn’t like I was backslidden,”* she shared.
#Finding Strength in Perspective
Rather than allowing the tragedy to breed resentment or make her question God’s love, Anwuli turned to prayer, constantly asking for divine strength: *”Lord, help me to lay it aside.”*
She explained that during that fragile season, God shifted her perspective and strengthened her by reminding her of others who had endured even weightier losses.
*”I stumbled on a woman’s video who lost all her children in a plane crash. I said, ‘Ah, but you have one.’ I also remember when a doctor told me to go for a womb X-ray. At the hospital, I met people who had been married for fifteen years without a child. I said, ‘God, thank You.'”*
Choosing gratitude in the midst of her brokenness became her anchor, providing the supernatural strength needed to keep moving forward.

#The Mandate to ‘Lay It Aside’
Drawing from Hebrews 12, Anwuli urged believers to consciously strip off the emotional weights and past hurts that threaten to derail their spiritual journey. She reminded the body of Christ that running a successful race requires a deliberate decision to let go of heavy burdens.
> *”There are things you must lay aside. Lay aside offenses. Lay aside bitterness. Lay aside comparison. Your past relationship that hurt you, lay it aside. The pastor that hurt you where you’re coming from, lay it aside. The business that failed, lay it aside. The person you begged that turned their back on you, lay it aside.”*
#Loving God Beyond the Harvest
Closing her powerful charge, she challenged Christians to re-evaluate the foundation of their relationship with God. True faith, she asserted, is not transactional; it is rooted in unconditional love.
*”You’re not connected to God because of the harvest. You’re connected to Him because you love Him. Whether there is or not, we are. Like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego said, ‘Even if He doesn’t come, we will still not bow.'”*
Anwuli’s testimony serves as a profound reminder to the global faith community that true devotion shines brightest in the dark, and looking unto Jesus remains the ultimate source of healing and victory.
