That I May Know Him
“For my determined purpose is that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death.” Phi 3:10
In a world driven by targets and timelines, it is natural to begin a new year with goals—career advancement, financial increase, personal development. These are valid pursuits. Yet, above them all lies a question that defines destiny:
What is the ultimate pursuit of your life?
The apostle Paul the Apostle, a man of great impact and spiritual authority, reduced his lifelong ambition to one profound desire:
“That I may know Him…”
This was not the cry of a beginner. It was the hunger of a man who had encountered Christ deeply, yet understood that there was still more to know.
To know Him is not merely intellectual; it is experiential. It is a progressive unveiling, a daily deepening, a continual awakening to the reality of Christ.
Knowing That Transforms
Many struggle with becoming—becoming stronger, wiser, more aligned, more impactful. But scripture reveals a powerful truth:
Becoming is rooted in knowing.
Clarity of understanding produces ease of transformation.
When you understand His love, you walk in boldness without striving.
When you understand His power, you rise above limitations.
When you understand His nature, your life begins to reflect His image.
Transformation is no longer forced; it becomes a natural expression of revelation.
Beyond Results: The Pursuit of Revelation
While many pursue outcomes, Paul pursued intimacy.
He understood that results without revelation are temporary, but revelation produces lasting transformation.
To truly know Christ is to:
Experience the power of His resurrection at work within you
Be shaped through life’s processes into His likeness
Walk in a clear and stable identity
When Christ is known, confusion fades. When He is revealed, purpose becomes clear.
A Call to Realignment
This is a call to shift from surface Christianity to intentional pursuit.
Not just knowing about Him through sermons and activities, but knowing Him through:
Fellowship
Revelation
Consistent communion
Because the depth of your knowledge of Him determines the depth of your transformation.
My Heart Cry To The Lord
Father, align my heart to this eternal pursuit—to know You deeply and truly.
Remove every distraction that competes with intimacy.
Grant me revelation that transforms and understanding that produces lasting change.
Let my life be a living expression of who You are.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Mandate Reflection
What is currently driving my pursuit in this season?
Am I seeking outcomes more than I am seeking Christ?
What intentional step can I take today to grow in my knowledge of Him?
Today’s Charge
Do not let your life be defined only by achievements.
Let it be defined by intimacy with Christ because when you truly know Him, you become a living expression of His reality on the earth.
